I work for a craft company and I have so much stash! My job is to sell…I haven’t sold anything this year! Just moved into a new apartment and I actually have a dedicated space to organize and use my stash. Being able to see what I have will help…at the moment I don’t need any more paper!

Great video. I have way more than I need or use. Love the advice to get the bare minimum to try a technique. Have found that I do not enjoy messy techniques. Could have saved myself some money.

This was exactly the video I needed. Lots of these ideas have been swirling in my head for the last year and you verbalized them for me. I’ve spent way too much money on card making supplies for the instant gratification and then never used them. I wonder if you have any suggestions of where I could sell unused stamps and dies? Also for Penny Black fans there is an EBay store that sells her stuff exclusively.

Thank you. As you started speaking about scrap busting projects using 1 inch squares, I faced the realization that just because some of my white scraps are big enough to stamp a word or a small sentiment doesn't mean I will actually dig through my paper to find some. I just gave myself permission to discard these small pieces as they are created rather than trying to save them for a future they will never see. Great ideas. TYFS

Jess, your tutorials have helped me a lot with the cards that I make monthly for our church congregation. I pick a stamp set each week and just run with it, using many pieces of cardstock that I’ve had for years. Thank you for your knowledge and help!!

Good Tips! Great reminder that we have a really expensive hobby! I have a list of things on mu phone that I call Wants as I get each item I delete it - from time to time I add items and them again I ask myself "Do I acutally need it"? This helps - I hava a hoard of paper that I am working through I lofe paper!

Great tips. Now that I have retired I am trying to work on all the kits I bought while I was working and my hobby was more buying than creating. The best tip, I think, was not to search for new stuff, when what you have works fine. I made that mistake with glue. Purchased several brands that were recommended by you tubers and still prefer nuvo.

I look at my craft supplies like groceries. Produce goes bad quickly, and there are some items like new paper patterns that will be out of style quickly, so things like that I try to buy less of even if it's on sale. Other items like card bases and envelops are like pantry staples that I make sure I have enough until the next time they are on sale. Good to remember that even paper has a shelf life.

I make it a goal to use the bits and pieces left over on my desk to create cards. Cleans things up and challenges my creativity. And definitely cut the insides out of those matts!

You are so right! Im guilty of that more often than I should! Even though I purchase items from thrift stores or from fb marketplace, I realize I have more supplies than I really need and need to concentrate on using what I have!

Great advice, Jess! And thank you so much for your no-scraps templates, they inspire me to use up the patterned papers that I have collected over the years. Funny story: in 2010 I said to my hubby 'I'm going to make our Christmas cards this year. It's bound to be cheaper.' Yes, I can hear you all laughing! I love this hobby, creating is so therapeutic.

Buying in bulk often saves money. Split a box of 1000 envelopes or a 250 sheet pack of your most used cardstock with one or two other fellow crafters. I definitely like your suggestion to steer clear of the shopping sites and to avoid those crafter sites that aren't demonstrating a skill or technique but are selling products.

Great tips :) Thanks! I unsubscribe from emails and try not to watch crafters who make me feel like I need to go shopping. I mostly watch videos while I am creating so I’m more focused on what I’m doing and less on what they’re doing. One thing that doesn’t feel frugal but actually might be for me is to buy consumables not durables - patterned paper and premade die cuts work out better cost per card for me because they’re things I will use up completely and enjoy. Even though stamps are durable and can be reused, I don’t love stamping and coloring, so I buy them more than I actually use them. (I’m also running out of space for storage!) Buying paper and ephemera keeps my stash fresh and fun. I choose Doodlebug a lot because I love them, they’re easy to create with for me, and they coordinate across collections so I can really use them all up. Knowing your own style is key.
